Honor MagicBook 15 Review

Honor MagicBook 15 Review

Honor MagicBook 15 is a powerful and compact laptop with AMD Ryzen high-performance processor which results in a 25.9% increase in Multi-core performance. It comes with an ultra-lightweight and minimal design. The MagicBook 15 weighs 1.53 kg, and it is 16.9 mm thick. Its edges display a stunning azure blue light, thanks to the crystalline diamond CNC machine. However, MagicBook 15 is a big disappointment when it comes to its port collections. It only offers two full-sized USB Type-A ports, a Type-C port for charging, and an HDMI port. You get a decent space on both sides of the trackpad for palm rest.

The webcam is also a great disappointment as it pops-ups from the keyboard and gives a not-so-good angle. The other person can only see your chin that too, with below-average image quality. However, when it comes to privacy, the laptop’s webcam is pretty well-placed as it will be hardly facing you.

When it comes to displaying, the Honor MagicBook offers a fully laminated 5.3 mm ultra-narrow bezel size display to reduce the reflection of light off the LCD panel and offers natural imagery under direct sunlight. Its display comes with a 15.6-inch IPS panel with anti-glare coating. The brightness is average, and the overall body is not bigger than the display, which makes it the best laptop for backpacks and compact workspaces.

If we talk about its performance, the laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500 CPU paired with the AMD Radeon Vega 8 graphics card with eight cores at 1200 MHz. The laptop supports essential functions like photo editing, Chrome tabs open at once, push notifications, and more. Overall, the laptop comes with a decent performance among its other counterparts in this price range. The laptop also comes with a Dolby Atmos support for better audio performance. MagicBook 15 comes with an ultra-fast PCIe NVMe SSD storage drive.  Honor MagicBook features an innovative fan design for better heat dissipation.

The battery performance of the laptop is just average. If you perform heavy tasks like gaming, video calls, and photo editing, then it will not survive more than 30 minutes. However, you can do essential reading and writing without any significant battery drainage. One of the most excellent features of MagicBook 15 is its multi-screen collaboration. With this functionality, you can easily collaborate between your Honor smartphone and MagicBook15.

Should you buy Honor MagicBook 15?

MagicBook 15 is a well-built and premium looking laptop with a stunning aluminum body. So, if you are looking for a high-end looking laptop, Magicbook 15 is the right choice. When it comes to the performance of its Ryzen 5 3500U, it works best for necessary usage activities like writing, photo editing, document editing, etc. MagicBook 15 is a great laptop if you are looking for a great media experience that includes excellent audio experience, brightness, colors, etc.

However, if you are looking for a reliable webcam, the MagicBook 15 is not a smart choice. Although MagicBook 15 SSD storage is speedy, it is limited to 256 GB and non-upgradable. You will need an external hard drive or cloud storage for your storage needs. MagicBook 15 is not a reliable choice if you are looking for a good storage laptop. If your work involves a lot of files transfer, the MagicBook 15 is not a smart choice as the port selection of the laptop is pretty bland.
