The story is set in a territory known as Badlands, located between the Mississippi River and the Rocky Mountains. Barons control monopolies and land over commodities like fuel and opium. The Barons are served by a group of slaves called cogs and a prostitute class called dolls. The series is described as a “genre-bending martial arts series.” The Executive producer of the show, Stephen King, was also the action-director of the project. The Tudors premiered on 1 April 2007, and it was the highest-rated series in Showtime in three years. The show debuted the second season on 30 March 2008 on Showtime and 1 August 2008 on BBC 2.
