Paul Anderson Has Hinted that the 6th Season of Peaky Blinders is Arriving Soon

With no films in theaters, almost zero social gatherings, football matches in empty stadiums, and negativity in full swing, we need to now look towards the television to get us through this long night. And there is some good news-we now have a show that we can anxiously wait for.

If you aren’t well caught up with all the reports about Peaky Blinders that kept on coming during the lockdown, I am obliged to remind you that this will be the final season of the beloved show (if the words of the cast are to be believed).

However, the good news is that the sixth season might not be very far as Paul Anderson, who is well known for playing the character Arthur Shelby Jr. in the British gangster series, has alluded to the fact that the coveted sixth season of Peaky Blinders is coming to the screens very soon.

Anderson broke the news to his Instagram followers (over 500,000) and also revealed the latest artwork for his character Arthur. The 42-year-old actor wrote that the sixth season is very well on its way, and the anxious wait of the fans will end soon. He added a popular hashtag in his post ‘#comingfknsoon.’

The post made his followers upbeat (most of them know him because of the show) who have been patiently waiting for the sixth season ever since the fifth season ended itself on a thrilling cliffhanger. The fifth season premiered on BBC last year.

Look away if you haven’t yet seen the fifth season. (Spoiler alert!)

In the final few seconds of the season, we see the lead character Tommy Shelby (played by Cillian Murphy) reeling with suicidal thoughts with his forehead in front of a gunpoint and his finger on the trigger. The season had ended at that moment, leaving Tommy Shelby’s fate in the midst of dreadful uncertainty. Fans have been itching since then to know whether he had pulled the trigger or not.

Despite the reports, speculations, interviews, and social media fanaticism, it is quite clear that it will not be before 2022 that the season will arrive on our screens.

Though under normal circumstances, we would have had more factual information because the production was due to start in March of this year.

Anthony Byrne, one of the stellar names behind the creation of the show, recently expressed his disappointment over the fact that the production had to be halted in March. The reason why he sounded upset is that before the lockdown was imposed, all the pre-production work had already been done, and the filming equipment was already tried and tested. The lockdown was imposed just days before the production team had to begin their work.

“It’s a real shame,” he said.

Byrne also spoke to Digital Spy, in which he sounded optimistic about getting the show done by the end of 2021. He said that it would take at least six months of editing after the filming, which will hopefully be finished by June or July of next year.
