Fire TV Stick Lite Vs. Standard Fire TV Stick: An Honest Review

Fire TV Stick Lite Vs. Standard Fire TV Stick: An Honest Review

The major difference between these media streaming devices is the price tag. Both of these devices have similarities, such as the performance is notably the same in both. Not only that, but there are several features you will get in both. In this article, we are going to provide you with everything you need to know to decide which one to buy between Fire TV Stick Lite and Fire TV Stick.

An Overview

In short, both of these devices have the same processor, video resolution, max frames per second, HDR support and more.

However, there are still some clear-cut differences between these two. One of the significant differences that you are going to see is the “lack of built-in Dolby support”. The lite version doesn’t have Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, etc.

Even though, the lite variant provides HDMI audio pass-through for Dolby Digital. Another notable dissimilarity between these gadgets is that the lite version does not come with TV controls on its remote.

Therefore, you cannot access your TV’S volume and power switch with the Alexa remote as you do with the standard Amazon Fire TV Stick remote.

However, these both major differences are almost manageable for most of the people. The lite variant does still support Alexa voice commands, and you can control the whole streaming device with the remote. The Dolby surround sound should not be an issue either for average users. Many people don’t give a damn to the sound quality, and they just get happy with normal stereo sound.

Even if you see from a techie’s perspective, the lite variant still provides the basic functions along with ease-of-access with Alexa.

The built-in Dolby support is not a significant point if you just want to stream movies and TV shows to your TV. However, if you are passionate about the sound quality, you should go for the standard Amazon Fire TV Stick to get the built-in Dolby support.

The Difference in Price

The lite variant is 10 USD cheaper than the standard Fire TV Stick. Therefore you are saving $10 by excluding Dolby support and television controls. Now the decision is up to you; if you want to get the Dolby support and television controls, you should go for the standard version without a single doubt. However, if you are only concerned about money, then go for the lite variant with your eyes closed.  In Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite, you are only sacrificing the native Dolby support and basic TV controls.

The Latest Streaming Devices by Roku

Fall is the season when most of the companies decide to launch their latest hardware products, electronic gadgets, etc. A few days ago, Amazon held an event to launch it’s next-generation Fire TV Stick, some new Echo gadgets, Fire TV Stick Lite, and more. Amazon is the biggest competitor in the streaming devices category, and it has revealed a few new streaming devices of its own. On the other hand, Roku – known for its affordable digital media players offering access to streaming media content from various online services – is also going to launch some new streaming devices. Currently, Roku is updating its Roku Ultra, and soon you will get to experience some new features on it.

Surprisingly, Roku is adding a Streambar to its lineup as well. This Streambar includes Roku’s streaming services inside a compact soundbar. You can pre-order both the devices from Roku’s website. The official launch will be on 18th October, and then, you can find these devices on Amazon, Best Buy, and other major online retailing websites. Below, we have mentioned more details about the upcoming Roku devices to help you pick the best one for yourself:

Roku Ultra

This is the first time when Roku’s streaming device will have Dolby Vision HDR support. The 2019 model gets upgraded with better processing speed that will enable the apps to launch quicker and navigate easily. Its wireless range has extended by up to 50% so you can place it a little far from the router. Fortunately, you can still use the Ethernet port to establish a hardwired connection. It offers Dolby Atmos audio and adds support for the AV1 codec. This media player can stream HD/4K/Hart with dual-band wireless support. The Roku OS software update brings a lot of new features, but the best one is Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support.

The Voice remote comes with buttons for TV power and volume adjustments, and it also gives direct access to Netflix, Hulu, Sling, and CBS. The Roku Ultra package includes a lost remote finder and a headphone jack for private listening with included premium JBL headphones. You can watch 500, 000+ movies and TV episodes, with voice search across 1,000+ top channels, catch hit movies, popular shows, and more without any subscription on the Roku channel. With Bluetooth support, you can pair your smartphone for streaming music or other audio through the Roku Ultra to the TV. But this update has removed the microSD card slot. It costs $99.99 only.

Roku Streambar

The latest Roku Streambar streams in HD/4K/HDR. It will upgrade your TV with robust streaming and premium sound so you can hear every detail and watch everything in vibrant 4K HDR picture quality. Its setup is also simple, and everything is mentioned on the box. It can automatically lower loud commercials, boost the volume of voices, and optimize the sound for night listening so that you don’t wake up your family at midnight. It also enables the users to listen to music in vibrant, studio-quality sound from their favorite channels or any connected Bluetooth device.

You can power up your TV, adjust the volume, and control your streaming all with one remote. Use your voice to search, turn on the captions, and more. It is compatible with Alexa and Google Voice Assistant. You can easily expand the audio for heart-pounding bass and surround sound. It is available for $129.99 only.

Both of these devices are great and have amazing support. However, if you want more options in this price range, you would have to wait for this weekend as Google is also going to launch its streaming device. Then, you can compare all the available devices and choose the best one for yourself.

Differences You Need to Know Between Echo Show 10 (Third-Gen) and Echo Show 10 (Second-Generation)

Differences You Need to Know Between Echo Show 10 (Third-Gen) and Echo Show 10 (Second-Generation)

Amazon is a popular brand when it comes to the production of smart home devices with amazing quality. Amazon offers a wide range of smart home devices including the Echo speakers, and they also make sure to roll out the latest versions of these devices from time to time. Recently, Amazon launched the Echo Show 10 (third-gen), which comes with some extra additional and smarter features than the previous device of the range, Amazon Echo Show 10 (second-generation). Amazon has made some significant changes in its latest offering of Echo Show 10 (third-gen), and it can be expected that the users are going to find these changes worth spending 20 more dollars. In this article, we are going to look at all the sides and sections which make Echo Show 10 (third-gen) different from Echo Show 10 (second-generation). Let’s scroll down and find more about the major differences between these devices.

Price and availability are something basic which differs these two devices. The Echo Show (second-gen) is already available in the market and you can buy it for $230, directly from Amazon. However, that is not the same case with the latest Echo Show 10 (third-gen). Echo Show 10 (third-gen) has only been announced and not yet released to be available in the market. You can expect the availability of this latest device in the market before Christmas this year. There are reports available about the pricing of this device, which says that you will have to spend 20 dollars more than the Echo Show (second-gen) for the third-gen device, as it will be available for $250, with some additional features and a better design of course.

There is a significant change in the design of the Echo Show 10 (third-gen) if we compare it with Echo Show 10 (second-generation). The Echo Show (second-gen) has an inverted-pyramid base, which also works as the speaker to play music and audio. The Echo Show (second-gen) has a compact design, and it features a slightly angled smart display that has a camera and is facing outside. The display and the speaker in Echo Show 10 (second-generation) seem to have built into each other. Amazon has improved the design of Echo Show 10 (third-gen) a lot as it comes with a round base this time, which also serves as a 360-degree speaker. There is a 10.1-inch smart display mounted on the top of this speaker. The best part about this display is that it is enabled for automated swivel. This display uses the face and body recognition and can swivel back and forth if you are moving around while attending a video call. The design and usability of the smart display certainly make it better than the Echo Show (second-gen).

Amazon seems to have made quite a lot of improvements in the sound quality of the Echo Show 10 (third-gen). Some speakers can produce a better sound quality than Echo Show 10 (second-generation), and Google Nest is also a close rival in the market. Amazon has redesigned the sound system of Echo Show 10 (third-gen), and it has a different speaker system, which makes it one of the best in the market. The new speaker has two 1-inch tweets and a 3-inch woofer, and it has awesome bass potential.

The display and the camera are major components of the Echo Show. Amazon has not made any changes in the display quality of Echo Show 10 (third-gen) than Echo Show 10 (second-generation) as both features a 10.1 inches touchscreen display that has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The swiveling display of the latest device is worth mentioning as it offers more usability. However, Amazon has surprised the tech-geeks with the changes made in camera quality. Echo Show 10 (second-generation) features a 5-megapixel camera while Echo Show 10 (third-gen) is coming packed with a 13MP camera, which allows you to have a better experience at video calling.

There are some significant changes which we can notice between Echo Show 10 (second-generation) and Echo Show 10 (third-gen), but there are sections where things are just the same in both models. Smart features and usability of Alexa are equally functioning for both models. Standards to protect your privacy are also the same on both of these models.

Echo Show 10 (third-gen) is certainly featuring some more advanced features and a better design to make things easier for you than Echo Show 10 (second-generation). However, we cannot overlook the quality of both devices over another. Both of the models can be considered among the best offerings from Amazon. You can bring some more advancement to your home by opting to spend an extra $20 than Echo Show 10 (second-generation), in the form of Echo Show 10 (third-gen).
