Vampire Diaries: About Elena and Damon

Vampire Diaries: About Elena and Damon

The relationship between Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert is one of the most arguably important romances in the television shows The Vampire Diaries.

It is a supernatural teen drama TV show developed by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. The Vampire Diaries is based on the book series of the same name written by the author L.J. Smith. The show premiered on 10 September 2009 on The CW and was concluded on 10 March 2017.

Nina Dobrev played the lead actress of the series, Elena Gilbert, for six five seasons and left the show after the sixth season. Dobrev returned as a voice-over artist for the seventh season, and later she returned as the guest star in the eighth season. And Ian Somerhalder played the character of Damon Salvatore, who is the antagonist of the show. Damon is also a part of a love triangle between a female vampire named Katherine Pierce and his brother Stefan.

Damon and Elena’s relationship is similar in the book series and television, but there are some notable differences. And there are also few elements in the book that are drastically altered in the screen adaptation.

This article will try to find out those elements that were missing in the TV show, but you can find it in the book.

Damon Followed Her

The pilot episode alludes to the fact within the novel series that Damon can control animals like crows. And he used his power to follow Elena when she went to visit her parents’ grave. The book has a reasonably significant plot point and one of Damon’s powers, but his brother, Stefan, does not.

Damon Kept His Relationship With Stefan Secret

In the TV shows, Damon first kept his arrival in town a secret. However, after some time, he puts himself to Stefan in the episode first. Later he meets Elena and introduces himself as the elder Salvatore. Whereas, in the book, it is entirely different; in the novel, Elena does not find out that Damon is the brother of Stefan until they initially meet.

Elena Know Who He Was

In the book series, Elena and Stefan were unaware that Damon was in the same town. And when Stefan shares his relationship with his brother to Elena, she surmises that the guy who keeps popping is Damon. And also, Damon is the one who causes the trouble in Fell’s Church.

Damon Tempted Elena

In the show, Elena was deeply in love with Stefan, and her love was very intense, and she would never feel such a strong connection with Damon.

But according to the book series, it was a little different. Although, she was in love with Stephen and it seems she ran into Damon and lost the connection she has with Stephen.

Damon Faked His Brother’s Death To Woo Elena

In the TV show, The Vampire Diaries, both the brothers Stefan and Damon have a considerable love rivalry surrounding Elena and Katherina, which is almost the same plot. However, in the books, readers can find out how Damon tries to win Elena going to some extremities. So much so, he even tells Elena that Stephan died when his brother disappeared to get Elena’s full attention.

Hints That Damon Was Her Future Husband

According to the show, Elena and Damon ultimately come up together. At the same time, it seemed like Elena and Stephan had an unbreakable bond. While in the books, there are many hints that Damon is the love of her life.

The above are a few differences between the book and TV show. I hope you liked the article.

Movies to Watch If You Like Gossip Girls

Movies to Watch If You Like Gossip Girls

Gossip Girls, a teen drama premiered in 2007 on The CW, ran for six winning seasons until 2012. The show features a group of mostly elite teenagers and their complicated families as they grow on the Upper East Side of New York City. Just as the name suggests, the show goes about everything from scandal, to love, and conflicts.

You can binge on all the six seasons on Netflix. And just in case you want something to watch in-between seasons, here are some movies that you will adore if you can’t get enough of Blair and her friends.

Mean Girls

From the very beginning of the series, it is made clear that Blaire being Queen B and her friends, aka followers, eat lunch gossiping on the steps of The Met. This is portrayed as a status symbol, if you are invited to eat on those steps with these girls, that means you are in.

This movie of 2004 named Mean Girls holds a lot of similarities to the teen drama, with lunch table status being one of that.

The Devil Wears Prada

One of the standouts about Gossip Girl is watching all the high-end designer clothing slain by the cast in each episode. Every scene flaunts expensive dresses and sharply tailored suits by top designers in the fashion industry.

The Devil Wears Prada is another brilliant movie that is all things clothes, bags, and shoes starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt.

Easy A

Gossip Girl is an online, anonymous blog that spreads all the rumors as the series progresses, the spicy talks get even messier.

So, for the viewers who love good rumors, Easy A, is a must-watch. The film talks about Olive, a girl struggling with her own school’s rumor mill, just as you see in Gossip Girls.

What To Expect When You’re Expecting

The series Gossip Girls is not just about some mean girls. It is about some heart-throbbing guys as well. One of which is Nate, the rich kid with a big heart. He is best friends with the wrong guy Chuck Bass but is nothing like him.

If you admire Nate played by Chace Crawford in Gossip Girls, you would love the warmth he brings to his character, Marco, in the film What to Expect When You’re Expecting.

A Walk To Remember

If you watched all the six episodes of Gossip Girl waiting for the day when all of the personalities would put down all the drama and live happily ever after, then you must watch the movie A Walk to Remember.

Based on Nicholas Sparks’ bestseller, this movie tells the story of two teenagers who fall in love despite their differences.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s

If you like Blair’s mixed personality traits of being domineering, manipulative, and at the same time being sensitive and compassionate for her friends. You would love to watch this film named Breakfast At Tiffany’s set in the 1960s.

The character of Audrey Hepburn in the movie takes a lot of cues from Queen B. We hope you will enjoy binging on to these equally famous and dramatic movies as the show Gossip Girl is.
