Use These Tips to Extend Battery Life of Your Laptop

Use These Tips to Extend Battery Life of Your Laptop

A laptop is an important gadget and the battery is its important component. While buying a new laptop we usually look at the RAM, ROM, Processor, and other things but hardly at the battery life. Although it is equally important to look at the battery life while buying a new laptop and also to take care of the battery after you have bought one. In this article, we are going to share the tips, which will help you to take care of the battery and extend its life.

Save Cycles to Save Battery

You might not be knowing this fact but the life cycle of a laptop battery can be called a charge cycle because all the laptop batteries are built in a way that they can handle a certain number of charge cycles which is around 500 cycles for every battery. A charge cycle means one full discharge down to zero percent and recharges back up to 100 percent. The same way if you put your laptop on charge at 50 percent to 100 percent, it would be counted as half cycle. Every other charge cycle decreases the capacity of your battery, so this means the fewer times you drain it to zero percent, the more it will last. The best way to keep charge cycles of your battery more is that you keep it charged between 40 to 80 percent. It will increase the charge cycles of your battery for at least 4 times.

Keep Your Laptop Cool

There must have been times when you felt that your laptop was overheating. It is because electro-thermal reactions inside your battery speed up which does not mean that your battery is working efficiently but it means that it is producing the power it could not use and supply to hardware. It can make your laptop heat even more which can damage the battery permanently. In that case, it is better if you shut down your laptop for a while and remove its battery or move to a cooler place. To avoid your laptop from heating up, it is also wise to not use it while keeping on your lap or at some other hot place. Also at times, you might be leaving your laptop plugged in. Though the latest batteries are smart enough to let the extra power they receive go, it might cause them to get heated up. It is suggested that you unplug your charger when it is not needed.

Use Software

It is not easy to keep a check on the health of your battery unlike other hardware, because it damages slowly. Installing software on your laptop is a good option to stay updated about your battery life. These software packages keep notifying you about CPU readings, storage temperatures and also monitor discharge cycles along with other handy information. However, on Windows, you can also get this report by running “powercgf/batteryreport” on your computer. You will be able to see minor details about your battery and the cycles and usages after running this command, and it will help you in keeping a track of the battery life of your laptop.

Keep the Functions in the Control

If you want every cycle of your battery to last longer, you should make sure that you are keeping various apps and features on your laptop in your control. You should be controlling the brightness, apps running in the background and you can also use battery saver settings when needed.

Replace Your Battery

If you have already started to realize that the health of your battery is diminishing it is wise to take precautions before it starts affecting the performance of your life. You should start thinking about the replacement of your battery after consulting with a technician because it is risky to carry on with the battery which does not have much life left, and can drain quickly at important times. It is also tough for your laptop to track the charge percentage of the broken battery and it can also affect the functioning of other hardware on your laptop.

The battery is an important component of your laptop and it is necessary to take care of it for the smooth functioning of your laptop. Using these tips you will be able to track and extend the battery life of your laptop.

Review: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 Is Portable and Extremely Powerful#laptop

Review: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 Is Portable and Extremely Powerful

There are three gaming units of ASUS that come under the range of the Zephyrus. One is a high-end Strix range, and the second is the rugged TUF series. The third one is the latest AMD hardware laptop that provides the ultimate gaming experience to the users.

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 is a gaming laptop that was launched at the start of this year. The Zephyrus G15 is one of the lighter, portable, and smaller units from the Zephyrus. The unit is quite good and packed with several features.

Build And Design Of Zephyrus G15

You will find the same principle design that was the part of the previous laptops by the ASUS. It doesn’t follow the same models of the most gaming laptops, as it has a more modest design. The straight lines on the frame and the squared finish makes its design quite impressive. The best part of its design is the cutout at the end of the laptop’s back with an LED indicator. The light blinks when any notification arrives on your system.

When it is compared with other gaming units, you will find a missing feature in this laptop, which is the RGB lighting. Apart from the backlight and the ROG logo, there is nothing that makes it a stylish laptop.

When you see its specs, you will see that Zephyrus G15 is just 2cm in height and 2.1KG in weight. For portability, the unit includes a portable charger and Type-C cable, which makes it extremely convenient for any gaming laptop.

Overall, the design is elegant, but the quality and the portability make it different from other gaming units.

What About Touchpad And Keyboard?

You might not love the gaming laptops’ touchpads, and the same story also goes with the Zephyrus G15. Its touchpad is not very responsive. You will not face any issue while performing simple tasks from the touchpad, but when you perform some gesture-based operations, you might find some critical issues. If you are scrolling something from your two fingers and swiping left and right, you have to attempt 2-3 times to perform your work efficiently. Most gamers use the dedicated mouse to avoid using the touchpad.

Keyboard is excellent, but it might seem tight fit in terms of the key spacing. But here, soft keys and the key travel makes it comfortable while playing the game.

Screen And Display Of This Laptop

As the name suggests, it has the 15.6″ screen with the IPS panel. It features 1920*10180 pixels resolution with a ratio of 16:9. You will also get the pixel density of the 141-pixel per inch.

It has an ultra-thin design with a minimal bezel just on the top of the screen. The bottom is slightly larger due to the official logo of the “ROG Zephyrus.”

It has a refresh rate of 240Hz, which creates a perfect environment for gaming. The laptop gets the full marks in the color rating and has a filter to protect your eyes even after using it for a longer duration.

It looks great, and the results are impressive too. Playing games and watching HD videos on this laptop is excellent. Due to the Pantone validation, the color production is impressive, and with this smaller-sized screen laptop, it produces crisper imagery like the larger gaming units with a similar resolution.

Some More Details About Performance and Battery

When it comes to the laptop’s performance, it doesn’t hold the signature performance given by the ASUS. It has an Octa-core CPU at 2.9GHz, along with the AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS. The G15 features the 16GB RAM (DDR4-3200) and a 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD.

The G15 also includes NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 along with the Max-Q Design Graphics Processing Units. The laptop is more fluent than other gaming units.

Performing everyday tasks on this laptop is quite easy, and the laptop also allows you to perform multiple tasks at the same time. You can also play your favorite games on this laptop.

Let’s talk about the battery life of the Zephyrus G15. It is quite efficient and gives you around 5-7 hours of battery life in a single charge. If you use the laptops for simple use, you probably could reach up to the 10 hours of battery life. If you want to watch any movie continuously, you can watch it for around 6 hours, and if you play games, it reduces the battery life to 2-3 hours.

As mentioned above, you can use a portable charger and Type-C cable to charge your device, which makes it more portable and compatible. The battery drain issue still presents at that time, and for managing this issue, you might need to plug in the charger immediately if you want to play games for a longer time.

Bottomline

Without lighting features, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 is different from all the typical gaming laptops. If you are a game lover, then you might love this device. Additionally, the laptop is excellent, but the touchpad is not as expected. Overall, the product quality is fine, and for a better gaming experience, you can get this laptop.

It won’t let you down in terms of power. It features the best hardware that can deliver excellent results.  If you want to conclude all the things, you might see that battery life is impressive, and it works well with the Type-C charging option. Other variants of the G15 have some impressive specification features that will override all the issues.
