“Emily in Paris” is an Awful Show

“Emily in Paris” is an Awful Show

Even though the creator has created some overrated pop culture stuff like “Younger”, Emily in Paris was just an unwatchable show.

“Emily in Paris” is currently in the top 10 charts of Netflix’s most watched content this week. However, it makes you question the authenticity of the chart or the likes of people in general. The half-hour long comedy-drama offers you nothing but attractive people doing attractive things which may entertain you for a while if you like escaping your prosaic life. But, then again, this is not the type of content that should be there in the top 10 of any charts in the world other than the one that goes something like “Top 10 Pretentious Shows of All Time.”

I reckon that “Younger” got much more praise than it actually deserved. However, you have to agree that the above-mentioned series had the wit and charm to get you through with it. But, “Emily in Paris,” well, it was just a polychromatic waste of time.

“Emily in Paris” is an escapist genre scripted show consisting of ten half-hour episodes which is run by lively and jubilant Lily Collins’ character Emily and though she should not be blamed for the negative critical responses that the show is getting (the concept is terrible), she hasn’t done anything brilliant either. She has given just about an okay-okay performance.

The show starts with Emily’s friend (Kate Walsh) giving up a job opportunity in Paris because she is pregnant. Emily, who has been introduced to us as a marketing expert, arrives at a high-profile company in Paris and takes everything by storm. Even though the show relays the story of a corporate world and people are supposed to be smart there, each and every character on the show is nothing short of a glamorous supermodel.

Just barely mentioning harassment, gender, and bold female arguments do not make a show feminist. The fact that all the problems Emily ever faced in her new company was related to her being American and her lack of understanding of the French culture takes the show far away from a well-accepted idea of feminism. Feminism is a serious issue in the modern world, so before venturing into such a domain, the creator should have done some proper research.

In very simple terms, none of the corporate world’s strong women acts in a way that Emily does on the show.

The worst aspect of the show is the fact that we see a story from the eyes of a social media influencer. I mean, really? And in the end, she did not even adapt to the Parisian culture at all as it is pointed out by a very talented critic Joshua Rivera for Verge.

Emily, a social media influencer, now spends most of her time working. By working, I mean that she is selling. She is just helping brands get bigger, not the actual people who need help in their success. It isn’t a hero’s journey. She is not my hero.

Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming “Birdwatch” Feature by Twitter

Everything You Need to Know About the Upcoming “Birdwatch” Feature by Twitter

Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms. There are millions of active users on Twitter who use this platform to express themselves with words, pictures, and videos. The possibility of spreading fake news through Twitter is also high because of its easy access, and thus Twitter keeps coming with innovative ideas to make the platform safer and reliable for users. Recently, Twitter confirmed that it is developing a new feature called “Birdwatch”. This feature will enable users to warn each other from browsing misleading tweets. Twitter has come up with this innovative feature to prevent the spread of false and fake news. This feature is going to be useful as it will minimize the circulation of those tweets, which can harm a community.

Twitter has not yet released official details about the “Birdwatch” feature, but the tech-geeks have already started to sense the arrival of the new feature. It was first brought to light by a tech-blogger Jane Manchun Wong, who uncovers the new features of any app by using reverse engineering tactics. In a tweet made on 5th August, she said that Twitter was working on a moderation tool to monitor misinformation and moderators would be able to flag tweets as misleading, and also add a note to it. She also added a screenshot of the feature in the tweet. Later, in late September, it was almost made sure that this new “moderation tool” is “Birdwatch” as Matt Navarra, a social media consultant spotted a dedicated “Add to Birdwatch” button below a tweet. He also confirmed that users would be able to attach a public or private note to a tweet with this new feature. With the new “Birdwatch” feature, Twitter will let moderators decide the nature of a tweet with voting. With a miniature survey, moderators will be able to vote if a tweet is misleading or not, and if it is, then to what extent it is harmful. We can expect Twitter to roll out more information about this “Birdwatch” feature, as Twitter’s product lead said that Twitter would share more about their plans soon, replying to a tweet of Jane Manchun Wong.

We cannot say when will be the “Birdwatch” feature available for the public in the final form, but we are expecting it to be rolling out soon. It is also sure that Twitter is not going to release this feature before the US election since it is still in its early development.

Twitter has always been serious about making a safe and user-friendly environment. We cannot yet judge the impact of this upcoming feature, but it can certainly be seen as another big step by Twitter to stick to its commitments.

Valorant Act Two to End Soon

Valorant Act Two to End Soon

Developed by Riot Games, Valorant is a multiplayer tactical game which was officially released on June 2, 2020. In the main game mode, the players are tasked to play in the attacking or defending team, each one having five players each. Every one of the players plays as an agent with their characters designed according to various cultures and countries in the world. Each player has their own ability that requires charging through various means like killing or spike actions. The game has a plethora of weapons which can be used by players at various stages. Overall Valorant is an exciting game with over 3 million players logging in each day to play.

Riot Games recently announced that in just two weeks the Valorant Act Two would end, and players have only that much time to get all the items they want and complete the battle pass. It is all set to end on October 13, while its ranked matchmaking system will be stopped by 4:30 PT. After the matchmaking system is off, the rank for act two will be locked. You also won’t be able to win the Battle pass anymore and can’t win rewards or skins for the levels that are still locked. There is a good possibility that the skins available right now won’t be available again, so it might be the last chance for everyone to win them.

Before the release of the new act, we can expect to see a server downtime after the matchmaking is turned off. However, not much is known about the exact time and details of this but based on how act two had rolled out; we can expect that it will be available later in the day itself. Riot Games has even started teasing act three to make the fans exuberant about the release. Several fans have decoded the cryptic teaser, and it is expected that the new location will be some cold place.

However, if developers of the game are to be believed, a new map is not due as of now. Before that happens, there will be a new map added to every episode of Valorant, which themselves are composed of three acts each. Since with act two we saw the release of Killjoy, we can expect to see a new agent who has some skill that is related to cold or all of this might just be an unnecessary expectation, and the reference might be for a new skin line only. However, irrespective of what change we might see in Valorant, we can be assured they will be quite considerable, so if you are a fan of the game you should prepare yourself, Riot Games might surprise everyone.

How to Improve Underperforming Content

How to Improve Underperforming Content

Content is the backbone of any brand trying to establish its online presence in today’s landscape. Content plays a significant role in optimizing and improving your SEO. If we pay close attention to the communication between Google and Webmasters in the last few years, then it’s clear that they have prioritized content for ranking websites or blogs. But despite working so hard on creating unique and relevant content, some content creators fail to achieve a good ranking on Google. Here comes the theory of underperforming content, which is often ignored by various content creators.

What is Underperforming Content?

Underperforming content is a piece of content that does not perform up to its full potential. Despite putting in maximum efforts, some content does not perform up to the mark. There could be multiple reasons behind the non-performance of your content, but the primary reason is that your content is simply not good enough to attract organic traffic.

In this article, we will mention how you can detect and improve the underperforming content:

Google Search Console

You can use the URL inspection tool to understand the status of your page or content. With this tool, you can analyze if you are allowing Google to crawl or index your page. With its Coverage feature, you can access the indexability and crawlability of your page.

Check if there is any difference between declared canonical versus Google-selected canonical. If the two differ, that means Google does not recognize your declared canonicals.

Chrome Extensions

Chrome Extensions simplify our lives to a great extent. Some Chrome Extensions can help you get a lot of information on your content like your page’s indexability status, meta robots tags, and canonical tags. You can check out Chrome Extensions like “SEO minion” or “SEO Meta in 1 click” to access information about your page.

JavaScript Check

JavaScript plays a significant role in improving the interactivity of your page. It may change some key HTML elements that are very crucial for SEO. Various tools like Mobile-friendly tests, Rich snippet results, and URL inspection tools can help you in finding out whether JavaScript might be a problem for your SEO or not.

Intent and SERP Analysis

With SERP and Intent analysis, you can cross-check various reasons why your content is not performing well. You can check whether your content is not compelling enough compared to ranking on page one. Other reasons for your content’s underperformance might include the wrong format of your content, seasonal content, or content being overshadowed by SERP features.

Duplication Issues

Duplicate content hurts your Google ranking. You can use various SEO tools to check whether two or more ranking URLs are flip-flopped. Here, Google cannot understand which URL to rank for a specific keyword. Check if the two URLs are appearing in a search result for an exact keyword. That is also a clear sign of duplicity. You can also check your SEO visibility by landing page. There might be a problem if two different URLs are ranked for similar keywords.

Now, as we have discussed the possible reasons for the underperformance of your content and how you can detect it, let’s dive into the solutions to fix this issue:

  • Check if your page can be crawled and indexed correctly.
  • Make sure your page does not fall under blocked resources in Robots.txt.
  • Make sure your page does not contain a no-index meta robots tag or a canonical tag pointing elsewhere.
  • Check if other pages have a canonical tag pointing to your URL.
  • Make sure your website does not have any non-SEO friendly JavaScript.
  • Make sure your page is internally linked to the site.
  • Make sure your page is present in your XML sitemap.
  • Always research what the SERP looks like for your topic.
  • Make sure you don’t overdo the mapping of keywords.
  • Always pick the top three keywords and focus on making your content relevant to those keywords.
  • Write unique and keyword-rich titles to improve your on-page ranking.
  • Do some SEO keyword research to write interesting meta-data.
  • Don’t change your metadata frequently.
  • Work on the readability factor of your content.
  • Use enough space between lines and paragraphs.
  • Check if your content’s tone and language match your target audience.

Conclusion

Underperforming content is a prominent yet understated issue by many content creators. But by using the right tools and processes in place, you can easily fix your underperforming content.

To fix this issue, make sure you dive into the reasons first and then take necessary measures. You can follow the process mentioned above to detect the likely reasons for the underperformance of your content. Ensure you request your page’s indexing with the URL inspection tool once you have made the necessary changes.

What Does System Restore Do in Windows 10

What Does System Restore Do in Windows 10

System Restore is the most useful tool for the times when installing new programs or making changes to Windows causes unforeseen issues or problems. And when such problems arise, returning your Windows PC to an earlier point in time seems like the only option.  Windows System Restore offers some useful features for uninstalling a rogue program, recovering corrupt or damaged Windows installations, or to boot up your PC in case of corrupted drivers. It is always a good idea to create several systems restore points from time to time or maybe daily.

So in this article, we will discuss what does System Restore does, how long does it take for this activity to complete, can it delete your data on the PC, and what if the System Restore itself goes wrong. Keep reading to know it all.

What Does a System Restore Do?

System Restore is a built-in Windows utility application that allows you to create a snapshot of your Windows system files and installed applications at a specific point, known as a restore point. These restore points are stored in your computer’s hard drive so that they can be used by your PC if anything happens to your PC.

To access this option in Windows 10, go to the Start menu and click “Create a Restore point.” A pop-up window will appear there, click on the relevant icon to enable System Restore. The Windows system restore creates several Restore points from time to time, which are arranged neatly date-wise, making it super easy for you to select the required event for restoration.

How Long Does the System Restore Take?

System Restore can take variable amounts of time depending on the number of files on your system and how complex is the program that is being deleted. If you are using a restore point from a few days back, then the whole process of restoration should be completed within 25 to 40 minutes.

Also, keep in mind that the activity cannot be interrupted midway after initiating it. In case you get stuck, you will have to force reboot the system using the Power button. Once the system restarts, the following message will appear on your screen: “Please wait while your Windows files and settings are being restored, System Restore is initializing.” If the activity is consuming too much time, it is probably because there are too many files to fix.

Does System Restore Delete Files?

System Restore does not have any impact on any documents, pictures, videos, batch files, or other personal data stored on hard disks. It will only restore your system files and settings. The main aim of System restore is to repair the Windows environment by reverting to the previous configuration that was saved in the restore point, so the recently installed programs and drivers might get uninstalled. You can always review the programs that will be affected in the System Restore option. Also, if you updated your Windows version after the Restore Point you are using, then know that your system will go back to a previous version.

What If There’s Something Wrong with System Restore

You will get an error screen the restart upon System restore if there were any issues with the Restore point. You can solve this problem only through Safe mode by starting Advanced recovery. To do so, go to “Start > Change Advanced Startup Options > Advanced Startup > Restart Now.” A blue screen will appear, where you will find the option for System Restore in Safe mode.

System Restore is a frequently-used and trusted tool to go back to a  certain point where your PC or laptop was in the most appropriate health state. Also, this is a perfect way to get rid of any unknown problem that is affecting your system.

Vampire Diaries: About Elena and Damon

Vampire Diaries: About Elena and Damon

The relationship between Damon Salvatore and Elena Gilbert is one of the most arguably important romances in the television shows The Vampire Diaries.

It is a supernatural teen drama TV show developed by Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson. The Vampire Diaries is based on the book series of the same name written by the author L.J. Smith. The show premiered on 10 September 2009 on The CW and was concluded on 10 March 2017.

Nina Dobrev played the lead actress of the series, Elena Gilbert, for six five seasons and left the show after the sixth season. Dobrev returned as a voice-over artist for the seventh season, and later she returned as the guest star in the eighth season. And Ian Somerhalder played the character of Damon Salvatore, who is the antagonist of the show. Damon is also a part of a love triangle between a female vampire named Katherine Pierce and his brother Stefan.

Damon and Elena’s relationship is similar in the book series and television, but there are some notable differences. And there are also few elements in the book that are drastically altered in the screen adaptation.

This article will try to find out those elements that were missing in the TV show, but you can find it in the book.

Damon Followed Her

The pilot episode alludes to the fact within the novel series that Damon can control animals like crows. And he used his power to follow Elena when she went to visit her parents’ grave. The book has a reasonably significant plot point and one of Damon’s powers, but his brother, Stefan, does not.

Damon Kept His Relationship With Stefan Secret

In the TV shows, Damon first kept his arrival in town a secret. However, after some time, he puts himself to Stefan in the episode first. Later he meets Elena and introduces himself as the elder Salvatore. Whereas, in the book, it is entirely different; in the novel, Elena does not find out that Damon is the brother of Stefan until they initially meet.

Elena Know Who He Was

In the book series, Elena and Stefan were unaware that Damon was in the same town. And when Stefan shares his relationship with his brother to Elena, she surmises that the guy who keeps popping is Damon. And also, Damon is the one who causes the trouble in Fell’s Church.

Damon Tempted Elena

In the show, Elena was deeply in love with Stefan, and her love was very intense, and she would never feel such a strong connection with Damon.

But according to the book series, it was a little different. Although, she was in love with Stephen and it seems she ran into Damon and lost the connection she has with Stephen.

Damon Faked His Brother’s Death To Woo Elena

In the TV show, The Vampire Diaries, both the brothers Stefan and Damon have a considerable love rivalry surrounding Elena and Katherina, which is almost the same plot. However, in the books, readers can find out how Damon tries to win Elena going to some extremities. So much so, he even tells Elena that Stephan died when his brother disappeared to get Elena’s full attention.

Hints That Damon Was Her Future Husband

According to the show, Elena and Damon ultimately come up together. At the same time, it seemed like Elena and Stephan had an unbreakable bond. While in the books, there are many hints that Damon is the love of her life.

The above are a few differences between the book and TV show. I hope you liked the article.
