Why Did Mulan Release on Disney+ but Not Black Widow

Why Did Mulan Release on Disney+ but Not Black Widow

Instead of waiting for the global health pandemic to calm down and release the movie in theatres, Disney found it better to release Mulan on its online streaming platform Disney+ directly. But they do not seem to have the same plans for Black Widow. Maybe they have a valid reason to choose Mulan’s live-action recreation for online streaming and not the Marvel movie. In a time where Hollywood movies have either halted or scrapped projects altogether because of the lack of certainty of the future, the movies that were complete have to wait for a theatrical release since there are no open cinema halls right now. Some productions decided it to be a better idea to release their movies on streaming platforms and expect a positive response. The primary plan was to release Mulan in the last week of March this year, but Disney kept pushing forward the date, keeping the hopes of people up.

The movie first rescheduled its release on the 24th of July and then pushed it to the 21st of August, but maybe Disney realized these attempts were futile. The latest announcement by Disney stated that the 1998 animation’s recreation would be available for people to stream for an extra 30 US Dollars. The audience is speculating that once Mulan releases on the small screens, Disney’s other upcoming projects may follow suit and release on their online platform instead of the big screens. One such pending project is MCU’s Black Widow that was supposed to hit the theatres in May 2020 and begin the MCU’s fourth phase. But ironically, that is not the case, and no such plans exist for Black Widow’s release.

There is a concrete reason for this decision. Mulan and Black Widow have a very different target audience. Disney did not originally plan to let Mulan stream on Disney+ but pushing release dates for theatres was doing them no good. Pushing the movie any further would have also proved financially incorrect since they have more projects pending for the remainder of this year whose future is unknown as well. Coronavirus has affected all plans that kids made for the summer of 2020, so it was a good chance to see their favorite female warrior princess on Disney+ while being confined to their homes. And Disney knew that even if they waited for the theatres to open and released the movie immediately, it would not have been a smart move since the movie prominently caters to kids. The parents will not risk their child’s health by taking them to busy theatres.

But the same does not apply for Black Widow. The addition of MCU to Disney was one of the biggest boosts and profit possibilities that the latter acquired. The company knew that the film would be tempting and exciting enough to lure people into watching them in theatres. The movie already has made a base with its relation to previous Marvel movies, and people will be more motivated to watch this movie rather than Mulan. Disney has other Marvel shows lined up for releases like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and they are just patiently waiting for the shooting and post-production to wrap up.

Windows Not Responding? Here’s Why

Windows Not Responding? Here’s Why

Windows is designed to provide a seamless experience to its users. Although, there are several times when we find that our Windows PC is hanging or freezing or just becoming unresponsive to any commands. Such situations can be quite frustrating, especially when you’re working on a deadline.

There are many problems that cause Windows to become unresponsive. If you see a blue screen or automatic shut-down, the chances are that there are issues with Windows system files. But if your screen is frozen as it is while you’re working, it is likely to be due to one or more of the following;

Incompatible Hardware

Windows uses a bunch of distinct hardware to complete its processes. The compatibility of hardware is the most significant factor to examine while facing hanging/freezing issues on Windows. Incompatible hardware can lead to a number of stability issues that can manifest in the form of crashing or hanging of the Windows OS.

Examine whether any newly connected hardware(both external or internal) is outdated. If found so, you should try replacing the part of hardware with the one that is compatible with your system.

Extensive RAM Usage

Even though Windows has a smart algorithm for RAM management, running too many power-hungry apps at the same time can cause a severe dent in performance. RAM is the memory secured for storing the data of all the running processes. You can refer to the Task Manager to have a look at the real-time RAM usage statistics by different running processes.

Right-click on the Start button and then select Task Manager from the list. You should try suspending the top 2 or 3 processes in the usage statistics. Tasks like running heavy-graphic games or rendering a high-quality video can often overburden the CPU.

Issues With the Drivers

Just like incompatible or outdated hardware, the drivers concerning the hardware can also cause stability issues if the drivers are incompatible. Drivers are software components that enable Windows to interface with the hardware correctly.

Microsoft provides all the necessary drivers to interact with the essential components like a keyboard, speaker, or mouse, by default. However, you may face problems when the installed drivers are either outdated or incompatible with the current Windows.

You can head over to the Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting Device Manager from the list. You can right-click on any of the drivers in Device Manager to find the option for updating the drivers. However, manual installation of drivers from 3rd parties is not recommended.

Presence of Malware

Malware is the umbrella term for several types of threats to the system, namely viruses, Trojans, worms, spyware, etc. These contain a script of malicious codes that can harm the user-data, and reveal sensitive information. As these codes gain access to the precious resources of the computer, it can result in a slow-down of the system. It’s a good idea to use high-quality antivirus software in addition to the Windows Defender.

Corrupt Registry Files

Windows has a protected database in which it stores all the system registry files. These contain the logs of the activities done and changes made by the user like the installation of a new program, change in a particular setting etc. Problems can arise when these system files get corrupted or outdated. You shouldn’t rely on 3rd party registry cleaners that claim to boost your performance. There are chances of messing up the registry files, so it is better to leave them untouched if you’re not sure about what you’re doing. Sometimes a fresh Windows Install can override the obsolete registry files and solve the issue. Make sure you back up all the data before proceeding with the fresh installation of Windows.

Hope you’ve found out the cause behind your unresponsive Windows. A lagging/freezing or crashing issue is most likely to arise due to one or more of the reasons mentioned above. Make sure you do some research and follow the appropriate troubleshooting steps after identifying the cause of your issue.

Netflix and Avatar Creators Part Ways

Netflix and Avatar Creators Part Ways

Creative differences between Netflix and show creators have become an old story now, and the latest names in the list are the original creators of Netflix adaptation of the live-action animation Avatar: The Last Airbender, Michael Dante DiMartino, and Bryan Konietzko.

The creators have decided to no longer work with Netflix citing “creative differences.”

After working tirelessly for two years, DiMartino publicly stated that he and Bryan would no longer be at the helm of Avatar: The Last Airbender. DiMartino, in fact, has said that the duo is no longer working with Netflix since the month of June.

DiMartino revealed the news through a blog post. Netflix said that it was committed to honoring their vision for this retelling. It remarked that things didn’t go as they had expected.

DiMartino also added, “Leaving the project was necessary for my happiness and creative integrity. I realized that I couldn’t control the creative direction of the series, but I could control how I responded.”

DiMartino made it clear through his blog post that he accepts that his relationship with Netflix had become vexing and exasperating. However, he made it clear that he didn’t want to discourage the people who are still working on it. Instead, he expressed disappointment by saying, “whatever version ends up on the screen, it will not be what Bryan and I had envisioned or intended to make.”

It was in the year 2018 that Netflix announced that popular animated show Avatar: The Last Airbender will be coming on its OTT platform as a live-action series with DiMartino and Konietzko in the swing of things. As of now, the series will move forward without the original creators.

Though Netflix boasts about giving creative freedom to the production team, it has faced criticism in the past over the same “creative differences” with some of the creators.

Netflix is known for the quality of content and has maintained its stance that it doesn’t like to interfere too much on which direction the story is heading. Rather, as the people working at Netflix have confidently said, it focuses on trusting the creators rather than judging them. However, it has been reported that they pass “notes” with suggestions, opinions, and revisions regarding the creative direction of a TV show while it is in production.

It was only in the year 2018 that Netflix and Marvel parted ways suspending the further production of popular TV shows such as Daredevil, the Punisher, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and The Defenders. Ava DuVernay also left a documentary citing “creative differences.”

Here is a List of Avatar: The Last Airbender Characters You Will See in The Legend of Korra

Here is a List of Avatar: The Last Airbender Characters You Will See in The Legend of Korra

The Legend of Korra is a follow-up series to Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Last Airbender initially aired on children’s television channel Nickelodeon and is now available for online streaming on Netflix. The sequel aired four years after the first part ended its run. Even though the story of The Legend of Korra will be different from the first one, there are quite a few characters from the previous installment who have featured in both the series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender had a run of three seasons and aired from February 2005 to July 2008. The animated series was set in a world where a few people could manipulate the elements of earth, fire, water, and air. This was done through the Chinese martial arts technique known as bending.

The story revolved around a boy named Aang, the current avatar who could bend all four elements and has the responsibility to maintain a sense of peace and harmony between the world’s four nations. Aang is also the last survivor belonging from Air Nomads along with his friends who have a goal of ending the Fire Nation’s war against the other nations of the world.

The Legend of Korra is set 70 years after the events of Avatar: The Last Airbender. So, here are characters from the first installment you will see in the follow-up.

Katara

Katara is the wife of Aang, the Airbender from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Since she appeared in The Legend of Korra, it is evident she survived. Aang and Katara have three children- Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin. Her survival into old age made it clear to the viewers that she is one of the surviving members of Team Avatar while the other two were Zuko and Toph.

Katara is the only character to teach the technique of bending to two different avatars. The first one was Aang. The second one was Aang’s reincarnation Korra, born in the southern water tribe. She mentored the latest avatar in water bending. Although, at the start of the series Korra has mastered the art of bending fire, earth, and water.

Aang

Aang was the avatar who could bend the elements of earth, water, fire and air in Avatar: The Last Airbender. Since Korra is his reincarnation, it is safe to say that he died before the events of The Legend of Korra. The scenes switching between past and present showed a grown version of Aang along with other members of the team. There was a spiritual connection between Aang and Korra because he was a predecessor, and that gave way for him to come in the form of a spirit and guide her.

Zuko

Born into the Fire Nation Royal Family, Zuko was a member of The Avatar team. He became the fire lord and the master. Bruce Davison voices the character. The character’s left side of the face has a prominent scar that was inflicted on him by his father, Fire Lord Ozai, shortly before banishing him. Zuko is also a member of Team Avatar.
